Principal's Message

Dear Parents of San Jacinto USD Head Start/State Preschool,

On behalf of the entire faculty, I would like to welcome you and your family to the 2019-2020 school year!

I am honored and feel very privileged to be the Director at San Jacinto Preschool for the fifth year. Beginning school is such an exciting time for you and your child. I am delighted that you considered San Jacinto Preschool to begin your child’s journey through his/her academic experience. Our commitment at San Jacinto Preschool is to support children’s growth and development in a positive learning environment through a variety of services.

It was another successful year in 2018-2019! Several great things happened at the preschool:

  •      Rated a Tier 5 in Quality Rating Improvement System-Highest rating possible in providing high quality education.
  •      Exhibited exemplary customer service skills. Our motto: “We take the ordinary... to extraordinary!”
  •      PLC at Work at the Preschool-Developing a collaborative PLC culture and identifying essential learning for students.
  •      Converted our MPR into Parent Café/Staff Lounge.
  •      Valuing our program, we made many facility improvements.

For this school year 2019-2020, the preschool opened two more Head Start full day classrooms to provide additional hours of educational services and to meet the needs of our working families. We also opened a State preschool classroom at Megan Cope. In addition, we joined Edward Hyatt World Language Academy in opening a preschool Dual Immersion classroom.

Family involvement is vital to the educational success of children. We started Coffee with the Director. This is a time where parents/guardians hear the latest updates and events of the program. In addition, it is also a time for parents to hear about the instructional program, gain strategies to assist their children, ask questions and/or share concerns that will positively impact student academic achievement. I enjoyed meeting with our parents and sharing in celebrating our school’s progress. You are invited to join us this school year. Hope to see many of you at this event,“Coffee with the Director.”

The preschool provides each child with a high-quality early childhood experience and school readiness. For many children, preschool is their first school experience. We at San Jacinto Head Start/State Preschool want to make preschool a positive experience ensuring that coming to school is enjoyable, as well as beneficial. For the 2019-2020 school year, we will continue focusing on student learning. Nurturing, responsive, and effective interactions and engaging environments are the foundation for high quality learning in early childhood settings such as:

  •      A well-organized and managed learning environment
  •      Social and emotional support
  •      Intentional teaching practices, interactions, and materials that stimulate children's thinking, development, and skills

Just as the children are encouraged to collaborate, we encourage parents to collaborate with us as well. Parents are always welcome into the classroom, and we look forward to seeing family and friends at all our special events. It is the partnership and on-going communication between the parents and teachers which builds the foundation for a successful school experience. Both our Head Start and State programs conducts monthly Parent Policy Committee meetings. We invite each and every parent to these meetings because your input and ideas are important to us!

I encourage you to really dive into our website and learn all you can about our school. San Jacinto Preschool will ensure that our future ready learners are prepared for kindergarten. Here at San Jacinto Preschool, we create an environment where the strengths, hopes, and passions of families are valued and reinforced!

If you ever have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to come by and see me.
