Principal's Message

Dear Parents of San Jacinto USD Head Start/State Preschool,

On behalf of the entire faculty, I would like to welcome you and your family to the 2018-2019 school year!

I am honored and feel very privileged to be the Director at San Jacinto Preschool for the fourth year. Beginning school is such an exciting time for you and your child. I am delighted that you considered San Jacinto Preschool to begin your child’s journey through his/her academic experience. Our commitment at San Jacinto Preschool is to support children’s growth and development in a positive learning environment through a variety of services.

It was a successful year in 2017-2018! The preschool opened four full day classrooms to provide additional hours of educational services and to meet the needs of our working families. We are looking into opening a few more classrooms within the next year or so. Many families attended the preschool’s events and meetings. Family involvement is vital to the educational success of children. Our program uses ongoing monitoring to continually assess progress toward meeting program goals and objectives, as well as compliance with regulatory requirements. For three years in a row, our program satisfied these requirements of being above 90% in compliance. In addition, our program has made facility improvements.

The preschool provides each child with a high quality early childhood experience and school readiness. For many children, preschool is their first school experience. We at San Jacinto Head Start/State Preschool want to make preschool a positive experience ensuring that coming to school is enjoyable, as well as beneficial. For the 2018-2019 school year, we will focus on student learning. Nurturing, responsive, and effective interactions and engaging environments are the foundation for high quality learning in early childhood settings such as:

  •       A well-organized and managed learning environment
  •       Social and emotional support
  •       Intentional teaching practices, interactions, and materials that stimulate children's thinking, development, and skills

Just as the children are encouraged to collaborate, we encourage parents to collaborate with us as well. Parents are always welcome into the classroom, and we look forward to seeing family and friends at all of our special events. It is the partnership and on-going communication between the parents and teachers which builds the foundation for a successful school experience. Both our Head Start and State programs conducts monthly Parent Policy Committee meetings. We hope you will become involved in attending these meetings because your input and ideas matters!

I encourage you to really dive into our website and learn all you can about our school. San Jacinto Preschool will ensure that our future ready learners are prepared for kindergarten. Here at San Jacinto Preschool, we create an environment where the strengths, hopes, and passions of families are valued and reinforced!

If you ever have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to come by and see me.
